Beam sees the patterns you don’t.

Sometimes it’s hard to see the “wood for the trees” but there’s always a reason you feel the way you do? The Beam app evaluates your mental, physical and financial health, shining a light on the issues that are causing you most stress, taking the guesswork out of understanding your wellbeing.

Beam is a unique self-management tool that securely syncs and tracks your data from apps you already use. It analyses the emotions and information from your fitness tracker, online banking, screen time, sleep and more to give you a clear picture of what’s going on and help you make small changes that can have a big impact.

Beam makes life less complex and more manageable by helping discover the “stories in your data”.

How Beam works

Our story

Things aren’t always as they seem!

To the naked eye, I was a normal person with a nice job and a happy family, who was making a pretty good fist of this thing called life.

But behind the facade there was something wrong. I couldn’t quite put my finger on what it was. I felt out of sorts, something wasn’t right, but what? I always felt stressed, often anxious, and sometimes angry. I couldn’t untangle it all.

In my struggle to work it out I tried everything from therapy to the pharmacy, to the pub. I self-medicated. I went out too much. Stayed in too much. Overspent, and under-delivered.

But all I had to show for it was guilt, a semi-permanent state of stress, and a few moments I’m not proud of.

Then I stumbled on a light bulb moment. What if the way I felt wasn’t just one of those things? What if it was connected to the things I did? To the small choices I made each day. How much I spent. What I ate. What about exercise and sleep? How hard was I working? How were my relationships?

So, with a pen and paper and some dogged determination I began writing down everything I did and felt.

Fast forward to a full notebook and a moment of clarity. I noticed patterns. I saw how the simple behavioural choices I made each day influenced how I felt. So I changed them, and people noticed a difference.

But hang on a second. No-one has the time to write down everything they do, every single day. And it’s 2022. All of that data already exists on our phones. It’s right there in fitness trackers, banking data, and social apps.

So the notepad became a mobile app called Beam and I’ve put together a brilliant team to realise it’s enormous potential. You connect it to your personal data and tell it how you feel each day, and it sees the patterns that you don’t.

It works out what makes you feel like you do and suggests ways to improve things. It’s going to change things for millions of people.

That’s our story and that’s Beam. Welcome to your future.

FAQs

According to a joint release in 2020 by the “World Federation for Mental Health” and the “World Health Organisation”, generalised anxiety is one of the most neglected areas of public and private services worldwide. Close to 1 billion people are living with everyday stress-related issues, yet relatively few have access to effective and ongoing support. Our motivation, born from our team’s direct experiences, is to combat this situation by helping people better manage everyday micro-stressors (as opposed to more fundamental anxieties such as the death of a loved one, losing a job or getting divorced) as they often act cumulatively and can be a potent source of physical, mental and financial stress over time.

It works by securely integrating user’s personal data with Beam’s proprietary algorithms, ontologies and analytics to quantify to decode and improve user’s lives. Once you’ve downloaded the app and signed up you tell us a little about yourselves and set your personal objectives. You then sync data from services you already use like health trackers, banking apps and screen time, providing you with a picture of your life. To share your feelings, you get a daily nudge to input them. It takes seconds. The app will still show behaviour patterns even if you don’t share your feelings, however you will get richer insights if you do.

Beam is a personalized, holistic, real-time App that allows every person suffering stress to intervene on their own behalf. It measures, tracks and interprets all aspects of daily living to identify the behaviors, habits and routines people need to minimize unnecessary stress and boost resilience.  Its evidence-based and built on the foundational principle that Mental, Physical and crucially Financial Wellbeing are intrinsically linked. Current digital health solutions are “one size fits all”, focusing on one aspect of life or predicated on an advertising or data aggregation business model, not real human needs.

Beam is committed to personal data privacy with no advertising or sell-on of third-party data. There will be no compromise on this. Your personal data will be stored in a Mongo Database on A.W.S. All data is encrypted and password protected. It is secure and utilised for your benefit only. This approach allows Beam to be funded by a transparent monthly subscription fee, with no hidden costs or catches.
